Hunger Relief

JCPC takes seriously Christ’s call for social justice,
“Truly I tell you, just as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.”
Matthew 25:45, NRSV

Believing that our faith is a lived faith, we are an outreach-focusedcongregation,
working specifically to help end hunger through thefollowing programs:

John Calvin Presbyterian Church is a member of ACCA (Annandale Christian Community for Action), a coalition of churches in the Annandale area that help to provide day care, food, rental assistance, furniture, and other services to low-income families in the Annandale/Bailey’s Crossroads area, regardless of religion, race or ethnic background. Food collection is on-going and can be dropped off at the church during office hours or during Sunday worship.

Belvedere Food Bags

John Calvin Presbyterian Church volunteers prepare and deliver food bags each month for children in need at Belvedere Elementary School.
Cents-ability provides collection boxes that are gathered the first Sunday of every month during the celebration of the Lord’s Supper.

John Calvin Presbyterian Church is one of the CROP Hunger Walk Top 100 fundraising congregations nationally. Lake Accotink provides a refreshing backdrop for this annual walk in October.

On the first Sunday in February, the Church sponsors a Chili cook-off and collection for the Souper Bowl, changing the nation’s largest weekend of football into the largest weekend of caring.
